Our planned five-day tour pairs an ancient-architecture lecturer with a Chinese–English guide. One brings the buildings into focus; the other helps connect the conversation and the practical details of your day.

Explore how a timber hall stands, what its sculpture reveals and how one building differs from the next. There is room for questions, whether this is your first temple visit or a long-held interest.

Follow the discussion in English, understand the local context and have a point of contact throughout the route.

The two-person expert team is selected from our specialist roster according to route knowledge, language requirements and departure availability. Assigned team members are confirmed before departure.

  1. Time to look, listen and ask

    Follow the connections between buildings with a specialist lecturer and a bilingual guide, from Tang temple halls to Datong’s Buddhist heritage.

  2. A comfortable base each evening

    Four nights of accommodation and eleven meals are included in the planned route. Hotel choices reflect what is available in each destination and are confirmed before booking.

  3. The connections taken care of

    The itinerary includes a private coach, an arrival transfer in Taiyuan and a departure transfer in Datong. Travel to and from Shanxi is arranged separately.

You do not need to know Shanxi already. We will help you find a starting point and explain the practical details before you decide.

Do I need to know about architecture?
No. Curiosity is enough. Our planned tour is designed to make specialist ideas accessible, while leaving room for deeper questions from those who already know the subject.
Will I be able to follow in English?
The planned five-day route includes a licensed Chinese–English guide alongside an ancient-architecture lecturer. Language and specialist requirements for private journeys are discussed during planning.
How active is the five-day tour?
Expect walking on uneven ground, stairs and some extended drives. Tell us about mobility needs before choosing a route. Hanging Temple upper-level access is not included and cannot be guaranteed.
What happens after I enquire?
We review your dates, interests and group size, then discuss a suitable route. Before booking, you receive the licensed operating agency, contracting party, payment recipient and written terms. An enquiry does not reserve a place.
